The Environment

As an industry leader in property development, we are fully aware of the impact that our activities could have on the natural and build environment. As a business that has been based in Scotland for over 125 years, it is in an environment in which we not only work, but live as well. At Dickie Homes, we recognise that we are guardians of the land we build on and at all times we remain committed to creating homes with a sensitive eye to the environment in which we work. We create homes that blend quickly and easily within their local environs. Inevitably, creating new homes causes some disruption, but we seek to minimise this at all times. We are currently developing our new environmental charter to ensure that our suppliers, contractors and ourselves all work to industry leading standards, incorporating the following criteria: Setting annual environmental objectives and targets, and monitoring performance Encouraging sub-contractors, designers and suppliers to adopt environmental policies and management systems that are satisfactory to us Communicating with local communities and others with an interest in our environmental policies, plans and performance Monitoring and reviewing environmental procedures and auditing compliance to ensure standards are being maintained whilst highlighting potential areas for improvement Reducing the environmental impacts of our sites and their effects on their local communities by adopting reasonable controls for preventing air, ground, water or noise pollution and keeping sites clean and tidy Making use of opportunities to minimise waste and to reuse or recycle materials Keeping abreast of and complying with legislation, regulations and codes of practice on environmental matters relevant to our operations
